Viking Hard Fescue — Viking is similar in appearance to improved sheep and blue fescues, but has wider, tougher, less glaucus leaves and is more tolerant of higher fertility and moist soil conditions.Viking exhibits a distinct, deep-dark green, fine textured turf that spreads very slowly with basal tillering. It is also recognized as low maintenance, due in part to its low rate of vertical growth, which requires less frequent mowing than other species. Once fully established it requires little supplemental irrigation or fertilizer and tolerates acidic, infertile, shady planting sites.
